  1. Justin - you need to post your project essay, too.

    All,
Here’s the on-line assignment for today (since I’ve had to cancel class due to the weather)
If you are unable to leave these comments below, please email them to me!

    1. Visit 5 of your classmates blogs at this link and leave constructive comments:

    2. Your comment must cover the following:
Which three design principles could be considered more carefully in order to improve your (5) classmate’s overall designs, and how should these principles be specifically implemented? Be very specific to receive full credit. Remember, you are critique five (5) different projects made by five of your classmates.

    3. With each of the five (5) designs you chose for question #1, choose one (1) personality “word/term” and describe how this word could be adjusted in order to reflect its meaning more accurately. Which design principles should be implemented (and how should they be specifically used) in order to get the “word or personality term” to express its meaning more directly?

Good luck and see you Monday!

  2. The 5 words I chose to use to describe myself were reliable, hardworking, outgoing, athletic, and funny. I was able to design each word in a way that somewhat describes itself. I wanted the word 'reliable' to be the focal point of the project. It follows the rule of thirds, and jumps out to the eye before anything else. I used a consistant font for the word to bring out the meaning and value of the word itself.
The next word I feel that the eye would jump to would be hardworking. I modified the font in such a way that it would add depth to the word by bringing it out in front in the middle. I made it bold in attempt to describe the word as well. I displayed the word 'funny' around reliable giving the project a sense of rhythm and I also placed "ha ha's" around the word to add more depth and meaning to the word. Another word was athletic. I curved that word around the edge to show an outline of the project. The last word I used was 'outgoing.' I gradually made the font smaller to make it look like it was 'going' away. I made the first few letters large because a person who is outgoing can sometimes be someone who stand out just like the first couple of letters do. I feel that I demonstrated rhythm, value, depth, and a true meaning of each word properly in my project. I also kept the amount of positive and negative space fairly equal.
